Iran boosts health tourism to attract 2 million medical tourists

The nation strives for UNESCO recognition as the tourism sector soars

Iran is intensifying its efforts to protect and promote its cultural heritage and tourism sector to achieve top-tier recognition from the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO), according to Reza Salehi Amiri, Minister of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts. This is reported by Iran Press News Agency, a partner of TV BRICS.

Minister Salehi Amiri articulated a vision for the future, revealing that Iran is developing comprehensive five-year and twenty-year plans dedicated to elevating its tourism industry.

Under the seventh development plan, Iran is targeting a significant increase in health tourism, aiming to attract 2 million medical tourists, generating a projected revenue of US$6 billion. This represents a substantial leap from the current US$1.2 billion in health tourism revenue.

Iran will be investing heavily in infrastructural development, promotional campaigns, and international collaborations, as reported by the source. The nation's advanced medical facilities, highly qualified healthcare professionals, and cost-effective medical services are positioned to attract a global clientele seeking health tourism opportunities.
