Iran develops nanofiber wound dressing with oak extract

Tannin-powered nanofiber bandages promote tissue regeneration

A team of researchers from Razi University have developed an advanced nanofiber wound dressing infused with oak fruit extract, offering a potential breakthrough in burn and injury treatment. The team aims to address the limitations of conventional wound care, including antibiotic resistance and scarring.

The new nanofiber dressing, made from polycaprolactone, provides a protective barrier while promoting faster healing, as reported by IRNA, a partner of TV BRICS. The oak extract’s tannins, flavonoids, and antioxidants reduce inflammation and stimulate tissue regeneration.

According to the researchers, this innovation aligns with global trends in medical nanotechnology. The team also highlighted the importance of utilising Iran’s medicinal plants and advancing nanofibre technology in healthcare.
