Musical Heart of Theatre National Festival introduces new theatre tradition
The National Festival "Musical Heart of Theatre" introduces a new tradition of opening the theatre season in one of the Moscow or large regional theatres with a musical and informal communication. The first event will take place on 21 September at the Mossovet Theatre at the performance of Evgeny Marcelli's "The Bremen Town Musicians".
"We are pleased that the Musical Heart of Theatre Award has praised our production so highly. We are glad that the opening of the National Festival theatre season will take place within our walls. We are looking forward to meeting the audience!" said Evgeny Marcelli, Artistic Director of the Mossovet Theatre, Honoured Artist of the Russian Federation.
This meeting will be a platform for communication between artists, directors, producers, and authors working in musical theatre in Russia. Among the guests of the event are Valery Yaremenko, nominee of the Musical Heart of Theatre 2024 Award, composers Kim Breitburg, Yuri Sherling, and Evgeny Zagot, as well as directors Evgeny Marcelli, Valery Arkhipov, Viktor Kramer, and Aleksander Fedorov.
Maksim Dunayevsky, president of the festival, noted the importance of communication between professionals.
"Additional communication and meetings give more opportunities for the development of creative ideas and the birth of new projects, including initiatives aimed at the development of musical theatre in Russia," he said.
Since 2006, the Festival and the Musical Heart of Theatre Award have been promoting the development of contemporary musical theatre in Russia and the popularisation of Russian authors. The project is supported by the Presidential Foundation for Cultural Initiatives and the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation. This year the festival will take place from 15 to 25 November in the Samara region.
