Saudi Arabia trains more than 1,000 farmers in coffee cultivation

The programme aims to improve coffee cultivation in the kingdom's southern regions

Under the patronage of the Public Investment Fund, Saudi Arabia held a six-day training course on the best coffee-growing practices in the Aseer region. This is reported by Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

The course was aimed at farmers in the Aseer region, which is known for its history of coffee cultivation. More than 40,000 coffee trees have already been planted on 300 farms in the region, and Aseer's climate is ideal for growing high-quality coffee.

On the course, farmers learnt the latest coffee growing and drying techniques from international experts.

The course aimed to improve productivity, stimulate the growth of the coffee industry, make coffee farms more sustainable, and share knowledge among participants.

More than 1,000 farmers and enthusiasts participated in the course. They underwent theoretical and practical sessions that included topics such as coffee plantation management, field preparation, shade tree care, modern fertilisation techniques, and coffee variety demonstrations.

The initiative provides various training programmes on coffee cultivation, production, sensory evaluation, café management, and entrepreneurship. The academy aims to provide farmers and coffee professionals with the necessary knowledge and skills to successfully develop the coffee industry.

All course participants have received certificates, which enhances their competitiveness and contributes to the sustainable development of the coffee industry in Saudi Arabia.
