UAE airports serve record number of passengers

UAE airports welcomed a record 36.5 million passengers in Q1 2024, up 15 per cent from the same period a year earlier. This is reported by Emirates News Agency (WAM), a partner of TV BRICS.

The calculation took into account 10,723,639 arrivals, 10,874,232 departures and 14,944,466 transit passengers.

Cargo traffic grew by 32 per cent, with a total of 1.1 million tonnes of cargo handled in the first quarter of 2024. Notably, national companies handled about 68 per cent of all air cargo traffic during this period.

The Emirati authorities point out that the 189 air transport agreements with countries around the world have played an important role in developing international partnerships and promoting the Open Skies policy.
