UAE notes importance of cultural diversity in achieving sustainable development goals
The country recognises the effectiveness of constructive dialogue in society
Cultural diversity gives impetus to innovation and strengthens the Emirates' position, including in the international arena, said Zaki Nusseibeh, Cultural Adviser to the UAE President and Chancellor of the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU). This is reported by Emirates News Agency (WAM), a partner of TV BRICS.
"Our government, led by President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, recognises that the rich cultural heritage of the UAE plays a crucial role in supporting sustainable development and enhancing the UAE’s leadership in global competition," Nusseibeh said.
He noted that in a world of rapid globalisation and technological advancement, the Emirates seeks to enhance social cohesion through constructive dialogue. In addition, cultural diversity can support sustainable tourism initiatives.
Every year on 21 May, the world celebrates the World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development, as proposed by UNESCO.
