Brazil expects more than 76,000 temporary tourism vacancies in the 2024 high season

Most of the vacancies will be in the food sector, followed by transport and accommodation

Brazil's tourism sector is expected to create 76,500 temporary jobs between October 2024 and January 2025, representing the highest number since 2015, according to data released by the National Confederation of Trade in Goods, Services and Tourism (CNC), as reported by TV Cultura, a partner of TV BRICS.

Most of the vacancies will be in the catering sector with 54,200 positions, followed by transport (10,600) and accommodation (8,400).

With official employment growing by 7.9 per cent compared to the pre-pandemic period, tourism will also contribute to a turnover of R$157 billion (US$2,7 billion) between November 2024 and February 2025.

"Tourism involves and impacts 57 direct segments of the economy and as many indirect ones. The end-of-year festivities, combined with holidays and public holidays, have a positive impact on the sector, stimulating greater demand for jobs and also contributing to an increase in the average income of Brazilians," said in a statement of the Brazilian Ministry of Tourism.

The department also offers professional qualification programmes to improve training in the sector.
