Brazil is invited to join OECD Co-operative Programme on Food and Agriculture
This is the first time that a country that is not a member of the organisation can join the group
Brazil has been invited to join the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development's (OECD) Co-operative Research Programme on Food Systems and Agriculture (CRP). This was announced by the press office of the country's Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply.
The statement said that participation in the CRP will give Brazil access to an international network of scientific co-operation and financial support for research projects. Once formal procedures are completed, Brazilian institutions will be able to receive funds for conferences, workshops and scientific publications.
It is specified that CRP deals with food security, climate change and sustainable development of the agricultural sector.
The OECD is made up of 38 countries. Brazil and other BRICS countries, including India, Indonesia, China and South Africa, are not members of the organisation, but cooperate with the association on a permanent basis as key partners.
