Over 430 thousand new jobs in February, fueled by reindustrialisation and domestic investment
Brazil ended February with a positive balance of 431,995 formal jobs, according to data released on 28 March by the Ministry of Labour and Employment. This marks the strongest monthly performance since 2020.
The services sector led the growth of 254,812 new jobs, followed by industry, commerce, construction, and agriculture. Most new jobs went to women and young people aged 18–24. Among states, Sao Paulo, Minas Gerais, and Parana saw the highest gains, reported by Toda Palavra, a partner of TV BRICS.
Labour Minister Luiz Marinho attributed the employment growth to reindustrialisation policy and investments in domestic production, including medical equipment and sustainable aviation fuel. Marinho expects slower job growth in March due to seasonal factors but remains optimistic about the positive trend continuing.
