China aims for sustainable growth and stronger international ties at "two sessions"
Key priorities include economic growth and job creation
China's top political advisory body on Monday concluded its annual session, calling on political advisors to make new and greater contribution to advancing Chinese modernisation. This is reported by China Daily, a partner of TV BRICS.
Key goals for 2025
Economic growth
China has outlined a target of GDP growth of around 5 per cent in 2025, demonstrating the pursuit of sustainable development.
Job creation
More than 12 million new urban jobs are planned, underlining the government's commitment to reducing unemployment and improving the well-being of citizens.
Inflation
The Consumer Price Index (CPI) growth target is set at around 2 per cent, demonstrating a commitment to maintaining price stability.
Furthermore, the government’s work report, a roughly 30-page document laying out Beijing’s plans for the year ahead, called for the country to “foster emerging industries and industries of the future” like biomanufacturing, quantum technology, embodied AI, and 6G technology. It also stressed that China needs to build up its domestic talent and improve the country’s research and development.
The CPPCC is composed of representatives of various political parties and social groups, cultural figures, and representatives of the business community.
