Egypt plans to export marble and granite worth US$1 billion annually
Authorities discussed expanding geological exploration activities and modernising the regulatory framework

Egypt expects to generate up to US$1 billion annually from marble and granite exports, reports by Daily News Egypt, a partner of TV BRICS, citing a statement by Egypt’s Minister of Industry, Khaled Hashem.
He noted that the country intends to significantly increase the number of operating quarries by the end of 2026. This will require closer cooperation between government bodies and both domestic and international investors to expand geological exploration and geographic coverage.
The minister added that authorities are currently taking steps to develop the sector, including installing 18 weighbridges at quarry exits to monitor extraction volumes. In addition, direct engagement has been established with manufacturers in the Shaq El-Thoban industrial zone in Cairo. In coordination with the Cairo administration, efforts are underway to legalise entities that had previously operated without the appropriate licences. At the same time, the overall licensing procedure is being simplified.
To support the mining sector, the ministry plans to establish an advisory committee comprising representatives of relevant ministries, government bodies and the Federation of Egyptian Industries, which brings together 21 industrial chambers and more than 100,000 industrial enterprises.
