Ethiopia advances agricultural digitalisation with innovative seed platform launch

The government aims to double improved seed production from 1 to 2 million quintals

Ethiopia’s Ministry of Agriculture has announced a new initiative towards modernising the agricultural sector with the planned testing of the seed platform later this year. This is reported by Fana Media Corporation, a partner of TV BRICS.

The government aims to double improved seed production from 1 to 2 million quintals. The platform is supposed to streamline coordination within the seed sector.

According to the source, over 69 per cent of this year’s target of 1.3 million quintals of improved seed production has already been achieved.

This initiative not only prioritises efficiency but also aligns with Ethiopia’s broader agricultural transformation strategy, setting the stage for a digitally empowered future in farming, the source claims.
