Ethiopia enrols over 500,000 citizens in coders programme to improve digital literacy

The programme seeks to train five million young Ethiopians over the next three years

Ethiopia’s Ministry of Innovation and Technology has announced that more than 580,000 citizens have already enrolled in the landmark Five Million Ethiopian Coders programme. This is reported by ENA, a partner of TV BRICS.

According to the source, this initiative is a key step in the country’s digital transformation, aiming to equip its youth with essential coding skills while fostering innovation and boosting employment opportunities in the tech sector.

The programme, which seeks to train five million young Ethiopians over the next three years, focuses on core areas such as web programming, Android development, data science, artificial intelligence, and foundational digital technologies.

Participants are encouraged to apply their newly acquired skills to create innovative solutions, contributing to the growth of Ethiopia’s technology ecosystem and supporting the country’s broader economic ambitions.
