Heads of BRICS space agencies to discuss joint initiatives at meeting in Brazil

The Russian side will propose projects in space science, education, and technology

From 27 to 29 April 2025, Brazil will host a meeting of heads of space agencies of the BRICS countries. It will be attended by Dmitry Bakanov, Director General of the Roscosmos State Corporation for Space Activities, who will speak at five sessions and hold talks with colleagues from Brazil, India, China, South Africa, Egypt, and the UAE. This is reported by the press service of the corporation.

The first session "Remote Sensing of the Earth" will be devoted to discussing the contribution of space technologies to solving global problems. The heads of agencies will present proposals for the 30th UN Climate Change Conference, focusing on how satellite data help countries cope with natural disasters and ensure food security.

In the second and third sessions, participants will address the issue of asymmetry between the space agencies of the BRICS states. Bakanov will propose measures to develop joint scientific and educational projects, as well as technology exchange.

At the fourth session, representatives of the BRICS countries will focus on improving efficiency and cohesion within BRICS, as well as integrating new members of the group into existing initiatives.

The press service of Roscosmos noted that Bakanov's participation underscores Russia's active position in the international space dialogue and its desire to build partnerships with BRICS countries.
