Indonesia accelerates adoption of technology to convert waste into energy
Numerous countries are expressing interest in collaborating with Indonesia on waste-to-energy initiatives
Indonesia is intensifying efforts to utilise advanced technology for converting waste into renewable energy and coal blending, aiming to address environmental concerns and enhance energy sustainability. This is reported by ANTARA.
Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs, Zulkifli Hasan, highlighted the importance of technological innovation in waste management during a press conference in Jakarta. He noted that numerous developed countries are expressing interest in collaborating with Indonesia on waste-to-energy initiatives.
“Nowadays, there is a lot of technology available. Some waste can be processed to produce energy, and some can be made for coal blending. We can now use technology, and many countries are willing to cooperate in this regard,” Hasan stated.
To facilitate efficient waste processing, the minister emphasised the need for updated policies that streamline waste management. Indonesia has already implemented several presidential regulations addressing waste-related challenges.
Hasan announced plans to establish a dedicated team tasked with formulating new policies that will strengthen waste processing strategies.
