Indonesia and Malaysia agree to expand cooperation in economy and education
There are now about 11,000 Indonesian students studying in Malaysia
Indonesian Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka met with Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi in Jakarta. The two sides discussed the development of bilateral cooperation in various fields. This is reported by Antara News.
According to Indonesia's Сoordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Pratikno, the countries' officials focused on economic interaction, development of the halal industry, and protection of migrant workers.
The discussion also touched on agriculture, maritime security and strengthening cooperation in education. Malaysia expressed interest in sending students to Indonesian universities for vocational training programmes.
The initiative aims to promote technical education programmes among Indonesian students and develop the regional vocational education system. As part of efforts to promote bilateral cooperation, Malaysia plans to send more students to the Bandung Institute of Technology, especially in agricultural fields.
