Nezar Patria calls for stronger focus on AI education to support national digital transformation
Indonesia's Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs, Nezar Patria, has underscored the importance of artificial intelligence (AI) in advancing the country’s digital economy, urging educational institutions to take a proactive role in preparing a skilled workforce. This is reported by Antara News.
Speaking at a public lecture on digital transformation, Patria encouraged students to develop expertise in AI technologies, highlighting the need for human capital capable of engaging with ongoing global digital developments.
He noted that AI is increasingly integrated into daily life and is expected to have a growing impact across sectors. According to Patria, the effective use of digital tools, including AI, can improve communication and productivity, with projections suggesting a 3.5 per cent productivity increase linked to AI implementation.
Patria also stated that Indonesia’s digital economy could reach approximately US$296 billion by 2030, potentially contributing up to 40 per cent of national GDP.
