Iran and India intend to expand judicial cooperation within SCO and BRICS frameworks

On the sidelines of the Hangzhou summit, the heads of the two countries' judicial systems discussed digital justice, cyber security, and joint legal initiatives

Iran's Judiciary Chief Gholam-Hossein Mohseni Ejei met with Sanjiv Khanna, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of India on the sidelines of 20th Meeting of the Heads of Supreme Courts of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states in Hangzhou, China. This is reported by ParsToday, a partner of TV BRICS.

During the talks, the two sides expressed interest in expanding legal and judicial cooperation between the countries, especially within the framework of the SCO and BRICS. The Head of the Iranian judiciary emphasised that the states that are members of these structures have significant influence at the global and regional levels, and therefore should interact more actively on key issues of our time.

The conversation focused on digital justice, legislative regulation of cryptocurrencies, and legal aspects of cyber threats. Mohseni Ejei noted the need for constant updating of legal norms amid the rapid development of digital and intellectual technologies. He emphasised that the SCO and BRICS can play an important role in developing joint approaches to these challenges.

Iran expressed readiness to share its own experience in the field of digitalisation of judicial processes and e-justice, as well as interest in studying Indian achievements in the field of regulation of cryptocurrencies and technologies.

For his part, Chief Justice of India Sanjiv Khanna reiterated his country's interest in signing a memorandum to expand legal and judicial ties with Iran. He also noted the deep cultural ties between the two countries, including the influence of Persian language in Indian poetry and architecture.
