Iran’s non-oil exports to UAE hit US$6.6 billion
Nations strengthen trade and investment under new economic pact
Iran’s non-oil trade with the UAE hits US$6.6 billion in exports over an 11-month period: from March 2024 to February 2025. Meanwhile, the UAE was Iran’s top import source, supplying US$19.1 billion in non-oil products.
In May 2024, the two nations signed an economic cooperation agreement during their third Joint Economic Committee meeting in Abu Dhabi. Officials from both sides emphasised expanding trade ties, with Iran highlighting the UAE’s role as its second-largest trading partner after China, with bilateral trade reaching US$27 billion.
As reported by Tehran Times, a partner of TV BRICS, key discussions included improving banking relations and leveraging their positions in the International North-South Transit Corridor to boost trade. UAE officials also noted opportunities in renewable energy and foreign investment, citing supportive policies for Iranian businesses.
Iran has prioritised increasing non-oil exports to neighbouring countries, including the UAE and 14 other regional partners. The latest talks aimed at resolving financial barriers and enhancing economic cooperation.
