Iran to launch satellite constellation for enhancing space capabilities

The constellation is expected to significantly enhance Iran's space operations and technological advancements

Iran has confirmed the planned launch of the "Shahid Soleimani" satellite constellation, set to commence in late March 2025. The constellation, which aims to bolster the country's capabilities in the Internet of Things (IoT), will consist of 20 satellites currently under construction.

The constellation is expected to significantly enhance Iran's space operations and technological advancements. This is reported by Mehr News Agency, a partner of TV BRICS.

The "Nahid 2" and "Nahid 3" satellites are also ready for deployment, and the several test launches would take place in early 2025 before the main launch of the constellation in 2026. These tests will help address any potential in-orbit issues.

Iran's existing satellite infrastructure is also undergoing significant upgrades, with the Mehda research satellite launched in February 2023, currently serving as a vital telecommunications platform in orbit.

Furthermore, Iranian public universities are the main partners in the satellite development, which contributes to the scientific and technological potential of the country, the source said.
