Kazakhstan opens unified database for rare and endangered wildlife

Kazakhstan has completed the development of a national database to monitor and protect rare and endangered animal species, marking a major step in conservation efforts. This is reported by Kazinform, a partner of TV BRICS.

The project, carried out in Almaty, has created a unified system containing 2,959 records of rare species, enabling more effective population tracking and conservation strategy development.

The database features 217 interactive maps, developed using geoinformation technology, which have been integrated into the latest edition of Kazakhstan’s Red Data Book. Additionally, a dedicated web portal is in development to provide public access to detailed information on the country’s rare species.

New wildlife monitoring methods have been implemented within protected nature reserves, improving data accuracy and conservation planning.
