Lula da Silva invites Chilean President to BRICS summit

The leaders discussed a bio-oceanic corridor project

Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva met with his Chilean counterpart Gabriel Boric in Brasilia. The parties signed 13 agreements on cooperation in the spheres of science and technology, culture, fisheries, agriculture, and artificial intelligence. This was reported by the press service of the administration of the Brazilian leader.

Lula da Silva at the talks called for closer integration of Latin American countries. According to him, only through joint efforts it is possible to achieve sustainable development.

One of the key areas of discussion was the project of the bio-oceanic corridor – a large-scale transport artery connecting the Atlantic coast of Brazil with Chilean ports in the Pacific Ocean. The infrastructure of this route is planned to be completed by 2026.

The Chilean President emphasised that the main goal of both countries is to improve the lives of the neediest segments of the population.

In addition, at the meeting, Lula da Silva invited Boric to participate in the BRICS summit, which will be held in Rio de Janeiro on 6-7 July. This is reported by Brazil 247, a partner of TV BRICS.

Earlier, Dmitry Rosenthal, Director of the Institute of Latin America (ILA) of the Russian Academy of Sciences, said in an interview with TV BRICS that Brazil's invitation of a number of Latin American countries to the BRICS summit is a step towards the expansion of the group. He emphasised that in this way, the country, as chair of the association, seeks to increase the number of potential candidates.
