Moscow and African countries outline plans to develop agrarian cooperation

A Moscow enterprise specialising in working with fruit and berries became a meeting place for a delegation from Ethiopia and Tanzania. It included representatives of the governments, business community and educational institutions of African countries. The parties discussed the expansion of cooperation in the agrarian sphere and new opportunities for increasing trade turnover.

Anatoly Garbuzov, Moscow Government Minister and Head of the Moscow Department of Investment and Industrial Policy, noted that trade with African countries shows a steady growth. In the first 10 months of 2024, trade turnover between Moscow and the countries of the continent increased by 33 per cent compared to the same period in 2023.

The African delegation was represented by the governor of an Ethiopian province, the advisor to the Tanzanian president on agricultural issues, the rector of Bonga University (Ethiopia) and the director of regulatory services at the Tanzania Fertilizer Regulatory Authority. They expressed interest in expanding imports of products from Africa. In addition, the meeting discussed supplies of agricultural equipment from Moscow. Special attention was paid to the exchange of experience and personnel.

"We see significant interest of Moscow partners in joint projects. The discussions outlined concrete steps to expand supplies and introduce agro-technologies, which will help create favourable conditions for all market participants," Ethiopian representative Endashaw Kebede said.

The event featured a presentation of projects and a tour of Moscow production facilities. The participants of the meeting emphasised that the agreements reached open new prospects for international cooperation.
