Russia sets new agricultural records in national history

The country produced over 128 million tonnes of grain in net weight

Russia secured its fifth-largest grain harvest in national history, as reported by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation.

According to Russian Minister of Agriculture Oksana Lut, the country produced over 128 million tonnes of grain in net weight, with final calculations expected to reach 130 million tonnes. Record-high yields were also achieved in rice, soybeans, and rapeseed, marking a historic milestone for Russian agriculture.

Lut emphasised that last year’s harvest fully meets domestic demand across nearly all crop categories, creating a strong foundation for expanding exports. Forecasts indicate that grain exports for the current agricultural season will reach 57 million tonnes, reinforcing Russia’s position as a leading global supplier.

The total sown area for the new harvest is projected to reach 84 million hectares, an increase of 1.1 million hectares compared to the previous year.

A key strategic objective remains the development of domestic seed breeding and selection. Strengthening the market position of Russian-produced seeds is a priority, as demand for locally developed varieties continues to rise among farmers.
