The initiative coincides with the UAE National Code Day
The UAE’s Office of Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications, together with the country’s Central Bank, has launched a first-of-its-kind initiative inviting the public to create the design for a commemorative coin using artificial intelligence (AI). This was reported by the Emirates News Agency (WAM), a partner of TV BRICS.
The launch of the competition coincides with the UAE National Code Day, held annually to mark the date when Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum inaugurated the region’s first electronic government on 29 October 2001. The event signalled the beginning of the UAE’s digital transformation era.
Participants are asked to design a coin using generative AI tools, ensuring a circular form suitable for minting and compliance with ethical and legal standards.
Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, stated that the initiative reflects the nation’s ambition to strengthen its position as a global hub for innovation and technology.
“We are reinforcing the country’s leadership in the fields of AI and programming while promoting our vision of a digital future built on innovation, knowledge, and meaningful community engagement,” he said.
The winning design will be featured on the commemorative coin issued by the UAE Central Bank.
“We are harnessing AI to develop the technologies of the future and to build a competitive, knowledge-based economy. This coin design competition serves as a model for enhancing public involvement in digital creativity and fostering innovative skills,” added Central Bank Governor Khaled Mohamed Balama.
According to the report, the coin will stand as a symbol of the UAE’s leadership in the digital age.
